God Fights Battles And Wars

God Fights Battles And Wars

Exodus 15:2-4 "The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea."

Moses sang the song after a resounding victory. In the song, Moses declared that "...The LORD is a man of war...". First of all note that God is not man. For Moses to call God "... man of war...", he was not inferring that God is (or was) a man. It was meant to characterize what is common to men (this metaphor is common in some songs). We all fight wars of all sorts daily. We fight wars at home and on the job (and at school). We fight spiritual wars, emotional wars and mental wars. The wars we fight can sometimes appear insurmountable. No matter how big the wars may appear, they are small before God. He is a "... man of war...." for our sake. When He steps into our situation, we see His war skills at work.

An example of His war skill was the case of the departure of Israel from Egypt. After much effort on the part of Moses to set the people of Israel out of Egypt and much resistance on the part of Pharaoh, the Israelites left Egypt with a chase from Pharaoh's troops. God demonstrated His war skill by parting the Red Sea into two and the Israelites passed through the sea on dry ground. Pharaoh's troops made an attempt to pursue the Israelites but was swallowed by the same sea thus Moses declared God as "...man of war...".

"...The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea."

Nobody can battle with the Lord and win. In case you are fighting or you plan to battle with (against) the Lord, do yourself a favor and keep your peace. Be on the Lord's side and not against Him otherwise, you will loose big time. If you are fighting the battle with and for Him, victory is sure. Wars are made up little battles. If you fight with and for Him, He will put everything in place for your victory. This is just because your victory is His victory.

To fight for the Lord God is to receive instructions from Him and act accordingly. It is not to act irrationally out of selfish interest and expect Him to finish up what He did not start and for the end that will not give Him pleasure. To fight with the Lord on the other hand is to make sure that He is in the picture all through the process. If He is in it throughout (taking the lead), victory is guaranteed. He wins both the battles and ultimately the war. He takes the final glory. The attitude after the war should be like that of Moses:

"The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him..."

The glory must go back to Him. Moses sang a song in honour of God. He declared God as:

"The LORD is my strength and song, ...my salvation: ...my God..."

Moses saw what to do for God after the war:

"...and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him..."

If our attitude will be like Moses, God will do more for us. Our attitude before and after each war we fight must glorify God. What should be our attitude before the war?

Hear Him First:

Deuteronomy 20:3,4 "And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them;

For the LORD your God is He that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you."

Before each battle we fight, there must be declared instruction to go for the battle.

"...For the LORD your God is He that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you."

Take note that there is an enemy. Our enemy is the devil that inspires all other battles. If we can take instruction from the Lord before going into the battle, we chain the devil and render His plan useless. Thereafter, the inspiration and motivation for any man to follow the devil's instructions will have no traction. God's victory is our victory. Take instruction from Him.

Stay In His Peace:

2 Chronicles 20:17 "Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you."

If He gives the instruction to "...go out against them..." (i.e. the enemy), then there is no need to loose your peace of mind.

Fear Not:

Deuteronomy 3:22 "Ye shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you."

Fear blurrs the mind. Fear incapacitates. Fear is the enemy of faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God who gives the victory. Do not be afraid!

New Testament Wars:

Ephesians 6:11-13 "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."

We are in the dispensation of grace. We are living by faith through grace. In the light of the New Testament, the wars we fight are spiritual. They are not carnal (physical). Once the spiritual battles are won, all the accompanying physical actions that will materialize the spiritual victory will be instructed. The bigger load of work is accomplished in Christ Jesus. It is the spiritual victory.

'The man of war' will fight for you. Walk in obedience as instructed. Demons released against you will flee. The war you are fighting will be won. Take the victory and celebrate God the way Moses celebrated.

Pray:

Father God, You are my song, my salvation and strength. You are my God, 'THE MAN OF WAR'. Fight my battles for me. All the stumbling blocks will go. The sickness and disease will depart from my body. The bad news will be turned to good news. The failure will be turned to success. MAN OF WAR, fight my battle for me in Jesus name. Amen!
