HIS KINGDOM

 His Kingdom

Psalms 45:6 "Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre."

God will be powerless without subjects loyal and faithful to His leadership. God is the King of glory. Utmost display of glory can be fully seen in God. He is the King of Kings. This suggests that all Kings, whether of physical nations of territory of people or of spiritual Kings of spirits (angels, demons and of human spirits dead or alive). All Kings are subject to Him. He can install or remove a King at will. If all Kings are subject to Him, then all faithfuls to the Kings are subject to Him as well if they will abide to His rules. He does not impose His will on any man but has given every man a free will to choose. At the end of the day, the subjects will be judge according to His will whether they are faithful to Him or not.

As a King, God has a throne. His throne is established in righteousness and justice. All subjects of His authority must submit to His righteous and just rule to enjoy the best from Him. While His rule is not imposed on any man, by and by, all men shall bow to Him. We all shall bow at His feet at the judgement seat at the end of time.

"Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre." King James Version.

The Psalmist has a good understanding of the Kingship of God. God's throne is for ever and ever, without end. No man's life here on Earth can ever reach the length  Methuselah reached (969 years), God had been in existence before we came and will continue for all eternity.

His Kingdom

Every King has a territory (domain) of operation. The King has the final say in His domain. The King, His subjects and the rules that governd activities in the domain makes up the kingdom. Simply said, a kingdom is the domain of the King where the subjects are ruled by rules that will bring about success of the King and the kingdom. A kingdom without a King, without subjects and without rules  will not have any meaningful success and will not last. God's kingdom will last for all eternity. His Kingdom has subjects and guiding rules. While all kingdoms are subject to Him by and by, not all kingdoms willingly submits to Him now.

God's kingdom is a holy kingdom just as He is holy. All other sinful kingdoms that refuses to submit to His rules will discover their error by and by.

Amos 9:8 "Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the LORD."

Sodom and Gomorrah discovered this the hard way.

Isaiah 13:19 "And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah."

What manner of people ought we to be after knowing all these? The almighty King of the whole universe demands loyalty from His subjects. His guiding rule is spelt out for us in the Bible. All other kingdoms that willingly submits to Him enjoy the favour of His presence to do great things. Kings who fought Him suffered the consequences. Those who submitted to Him have great stories to tell.

2 Kings 19:15 "And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth."

None can withstand His great power and might. There is a period of grace to discover and submit to His will. Kings who submitted to Him have done themselves and their subjects great favour. Great Kings have learned to pray to Him. Prayer is the daily access route to Him.

2 Chronicles 20:5,6 "And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court,

And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?"

The core message of Jesus was the kingdom of God. Jesus preached repentance towards God as the gate pass to the kingdom of God. Even though a man may be of an unbelieving and sinful kingdom, repentance towards God gives such a man access to the holy kingdom.

St. Mark 1:14,15 "Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel."

Any man who does not willingly submits and obeys the rules of the kingdom, may suffer the fate of sinful kingdoms. Jesus was (and is) the ambassador as well as the prince of the kingdom of God. His life was a reflection of the lifestyle of the kingdom.

For Jesus, the ultimate pursuit in life is the kingdom of God. Once priority is set, all other things that makes life enjoyable will be added by the King of the universe.

St. Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

The kingdom of God has detractors. Satan is the enemy of God's kingdom. He has demons as his agents of deception to detract men from the kingdom of God. Jesus was busy casting out demons from men to make the kingdom of God easily accessible.

St. Matthew 12:28 "But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you."

All that satan and demons do is make man loose focus from the kingdom of God and as a result, become unfruitful and unproductive. Fruitfulness towards God is very important to the King of Kings. Jesus knew this and preached it. For the citizens of the kingdom, one loose his or her place by being unfruitful.

St. Matthew 21:43 "Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof."

While it is possible for a man to be living in a sinful human kingdom, the same man can repent and submit to  God the King of all creation. Change of kingdom is possible in Christ Jesus. The kingdom of God has rules that will bring the man to productivity and fruitfulness. Today, make a decision for God. Repent and identify with the kingdom. Submit to God's rules. Reject the works of the devil and of darkness and be fruitful.

Pray:

Father, I pray in Jesus name that You bring me to subjection to Your kingdom and it's rules. I gain access by Christ Jesus and repent of my sins. Forgive me and deliver me from the power of darkness and of sin. I am now a child of the kingdom of God. I shall be productive to the glory of your name.
