HOLY GOD

God Is Holy

Leviticus 11:44 "For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."

The God we serve is a God of peace. He can do anything He so wish suddenly. He fight battles and wars and was never known to have lost any battle. He is also a jealous God and does not share His glory with any one. As a miracle working God, He can do miracles that defy natural laws of nature and science to demonstrate His glory. All His abilities are triggered in the spirit realm. We must be in the same realm with Him to enjoy His favour and love. His realm is in spirit and truth. If we must worship Him, we must do so in spirit and in truth.

All that God will do is holy. Sin and corrupt living keeps Him far away. If He stays away, it will be impossible to enjoy His peace and blessings.

"For I am the LORD your God: ... sanctify yourselves, ... be holy; for I am holy: neither ... defile yourselves ..."

God will have Himself let us know who He was and who He is so that nothing appears strange in our walk with Him. One thing He said severally about Himself in scripture is that He is holy. When He demanded holiness from the children of Israel, there was nothing strange about it. You do not demand from people what you yourself cannot do. God is holy, when He demands holiness, it is validly justified.

What is holiness? What does it mean to be holy? Holiness is a consecrated life without sin. It is a life devoid of the corruption to gratify the selfish urgings of the carnal nature of the flesh. It is a life pure in thought, word and deed. A holy life is motivated by the spiritual life originated from God. It's origin is God. The energy to live a holy is derived from God Himself. We understand this holy life from the word of God. Men and women who lived holy lives brought God closer and triggered miracles beyond the wildest imagination of any man. Through holy men and women, God had access to the physical world to bless mankind. If all men were to live holy lives, this world will be a better place, there will be no suicide nor murder, there will be no stealing, no cheating, no wars, no corruption, no sexual immorality, no drunkenness, no hatred, no racism (and all other -isms e.g. tribalism, nepotism etc). Holy people see life from the eyes of God. They are considerate having known the mind of God about issues of this life. What motivated them to live holy is the Holy God Himself.

"For I am the LORD your God: ... for I am holy:...."

He is holy. He will not change. He remains holy for all eternity. He had always been holy. He radiates holiness.

"...ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: ...."

He demanded holiness because He is holy. Are you walking in holiness? Are your ways holy? Are your thoughts holy? Are you surrounded by holy people? Do you take the time to create a holy atmosphere around you? Are you comfortable with the idea of holiness? It all starts with a healthy relationship with God. If you consider yourself unholy, pray a prayer of repentance and ask God for forgiveness. It is not for you to stay away from Him, draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. The nearer He is to you, the holier you become.

"...ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy;... neither shall ye defile yourselves...."

Sanctify Yourself:

Set yourself apart to have access to God. Separate yourself to God. It is not for you first to start living holy. It is first for you to set yourself apart and be with the holy God. He will infuse His nature in you. It will be a natural thing to be holy.

Away From Defilement:

There must be an effort on your part. To carelessly live life thinking that God will do everything is an error. Stay away from anything that will defile and contaminate. You do not have to go to any extreme. God will keep you in track by the knowledge of His word.

Benefits of Holiness:

Deuteronomy 23:14 "For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee."

If you walk in holiness just as God is holy, you attract the presence of God. The presence of God can come down on your family, your place of work or wherever you may find yourself. The presence of God keeps sin and demons away.

"For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee."

Keep God Near:

"For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, .. that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee."

The camp here could be your family or wherever you could find yourself. Let God be part of all you do.

He Delivers:

"...in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, ..."

Holy living attracts deliverance. All that satan and sin brought, the holy life can undo. Sickness, disease, poverty, lack, failure, defeat, want, confusion and lack of peace are direct consequence of sin. Deliverance is available in God by holy living.

Victory Over The Enemy:

"...to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy..."

God is a God of war. He fights battles and wars. He always wins without fail. Holy living attracts Him to fight and win for a man or woman. Enemies may surround you but with Him on your side, you will overcome. If your camp is holy, you will see victory over the enemy.

Romans 12:1 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."

You have a homework to do. Present everything you have to the holy God. The Holy Spirit of God will demonstrate His power.

Jesus is the holiness of God personified. Demons acknowledge his holiness. This walk of holiness is made easy in Christ Jesus. Look at what demons have to say about him:

St. Luke 4:34 "Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God."

Let Jesus put the enemy under your feet. Let it be today and not tomorrow. Start the journey today. Jesus will help you.

Pray:

Lord Jesus, I stop the struggle and allow you to take full control. You are holiness personified, I present my whole life in your care. Make me holy.
