 What God Had Done In A Meeting

St. Luke 5:17 "And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them."

There was never a time Jesus was in a place and God will not do a thing spectacular. One guest you will love to have in your meeting is Jesus. However, for Jesus to do anything, you may have to pay attention to certain important details. Pay attention to who else was in the meeting apart from Jesus.

"... there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting ...the power of the Lord was present to heal them."

It is not enough to have Jesus in a meeting. He will love to have meetings with people like you and me. In a meeting there could be all caliber of people and they could be there taking the center stage and when that is done, there is nothing more that Jesus can do. In this meeting at a point in time,  not only Jesus was there but there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, they were men learned and if allowed to take the center stage, it would have been business as usual. Who else was there? If we do not take time, we will not notice one important attendee.

 "...the power of the Lord was present "

This is the key to successful meetings. It is possible for that Jesus will be in a meeting and nothing will happen simply because the power of God was not there. The power of God was present simply indicating that the Holy Spirit was at the meeting. Please tell me what meeting will you like to see God do great things without the presence of the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is God's representative in our meetings. If the Holy Spirit is not there then there is likelihood that another spirit is present which can change the outcome of a meeting. 

Now that we know the attendees of the meeting, what were they there to do?

"... he was teaching, ...Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, ... the power of the Lord was present to heal them."

Jesus was in the meeting to teach. That is very important. He was not just there listening. He was teaching and creating the right atmosphere for God to work wonders. Jesus taught them the word of God. What else do you expect Jesus to teach? He was not there to give them the latest analysis of the the news in town. He was giving them the news from heaven. That was what he knows best to teach. The Pharisees and doctors of the law were listening to the news from heaven. As doctors of the law, if allowed, they may have other things to talk about which may be counter productive to the purpose of the meeting. What were they doing at this meeting? They were sitting down listening to Jesus. This is important. All important personalities present were not active. All that they were doing was engaging their minds in  what Jesus was saying. Any one of them who was not engaged in what Jesus was saying will miss out. 

Jesus was at the meeting. The Pharisees and doctors of the law were there also sitting and listening. The Holy Spirit of God was present to heal. The purpose of the presence of the Holy Spirit was known i.e to heal. The expected outcome of the meeting was healing. If at the end of the meeting any one was not healed those present, it may likely be that they were not expecting healing or that they were not engaging their minds with what Jesus was saying or only God knows why. If the Holy Spirit was there to heal then naturally healing rivers will flow.

It is time to ask yourself who and who was at your meeting. What were they there doing? Was Jesus at the meeting? Was the Holy Spirit present at the meeting? If he was present, what was He present to do? Now how do we invite the Holy Spirit to be in our meetings in the first place? Long before any meeting, the guests were to be known. During preparation, among the list of persons invited should be the Holy Spirit. If Jesus were to be at the meeting, it is known. What everyone will do during the meeting is known. Orderliness is needed for God to work. 

Jesus prayed before this meeting during which the Holy Spirit was present, what was to be taught was likely set in place. The lesson plan (so to speak) was drawn. The outcome of the meeting was known before the meeting so that the purpose of heaven will be achieved. In this particular meeting, was the purpose of the meeting achieved?

St. Luke 5:18-20,2425 'And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.

And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.

And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee...

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God."

What can you see here? Jesus taught, the people listened, the power of God was present to heal and there was healing. This is God at work. The purpose of God for the meeting was achieved. The man who was carried to the meeting bedriddened went back home healthy, on his feet without needing any assistance. God did it all.

"...he ...departed to his own house, glorifying God."

Be the meeting everything was set. During the meeting, there was orderliness and everything went smoothly according to plan with little or no distraction and God achieved His plan of healing and the people went home with their healing and having God in their minds.

"...departed .. glorifying God."

God will heal you. He will deliver you. He do a great miracle in your life. Great changes will come to you. You will keep glorifying Him.

Pray:

My Lord and my God, whatever meeting I will find myself, go ahead of me and heal me. Deliver me from the hands of the enemy and show me your mercy. Your purpose for my life will be achieved.

I will pay attention to your word and allow the Holly Spirit to do His work and You will do a great work in my life to the glory of Your name. In Jesus name I pray. Amen!
