Jesus And Healing

St. Matthew 8:16-17 "When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses."

The world has recorded so many types of diseases over the years. Tracing from biblical times, sickness and diseases started from Adam and Eve. Genesis chapter 3 gave us an account of how it all started. When Adam fell in disobedience to God, he not only open the door for the devil to oppress himself and his family, he opened the door to the suffering of all mankind. The door was opened for sickness and diseases to be introduced to all mankind. We have not yet found any man who had never fallen sickness or fallen to disease(s). Now, the names of diseases are so many to count. 

God in his Mercy had made provision for our healing and health. Medical professionals, by the wisdom given to them helped in no small measure but God had an arrangement in Christ to deal with the root of the matter. Sin must be dealt with. It had been dealt with. This had rendered the grip of sickness and disease useless. Satan will no longer find justifiable ground to keep sickness and diseases on us. There is a catch, it came with a price. Jesus paid the price for our healing and health by his blood while on our own part, we accept it by faith. It is a free gift that came by faith. Whoever believes in him will have the complete package which includes healing and health among other things. 

From the birth of Christ Jesus to his death, he was on assignment to undo the works of the devil. The way he lived his life, the things he said, the places he went, and how he approached issues were pointers to the whole of his assignment to liberate man from the works of the devil. Paying attention to the things Jesus said, what he did and how he did it will be helpful to unpack our victory.

"When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:..."

They saw the healing virtue in him which made them to bring the sick for healing and by the time Jesus finished attending to them, they were healed. But it is important to take note of the whole picture. Jesus did not start by attacking the diseases, he went to the root of the disease.

"... he cast out the spirits ... and healed all that were sick:..."

The devil was holding the people bound. His demons were on assignment to hold people bound with sickness and diseases. They got the confidence by sin. The sin of Adam opened the door way. The sin of the people reinforced the devil to keep sickness and diseases in the bodies of the people. Jesus handled them so cheaply. The evil spirits brought the ailments and not God. When they (the spirits) gained access, they made the human body not to function optimally. They put pressure on some parts of the body and introduced bacteria in other parts. They manipulated man to use his body wrongly and by so doing, sickness and diseases degraded the body. That is the root of the problem. Jesus knew satan's tricks. He cast out the devil. He did not negotiate with the devil. He was not deplomatic about it. He gave them a word of command and without effort, the evil spirits ran for their lives.

"... cast out the spirits with his word, ..."

No gadget was used. No special tool was used. The spirits were cast out of the people. Evil spirits cannot be seen with the naked eyes, it is only the outcome of their presence can be seen. The moment the spirits left, noticeable healing can be seen. People who were initially stressed received healing and felt great relief. Jesus handled it so cheaply because that was the reason he came.

"..healed all that were sick:..."

Just mention any disease, Jesus healed them all. Do not excuse any disease. They were sent parking away along with the evil spirits. All of them were healed. You will enjoy what Jesus have made provision for. 

How did it all started? How did the people get the healing?

"... they brought unto him many ..."

The sick and afflicted were brought to Jesus. They were not kept away from him. Staying away from Jesus gives the evil spirits more confidence to oppress. The presence of Jesus is the ground for healing. Bacteria and viruses cannot survive in an uncomfortable environment. Get closer to Jesus for your healing. Those evil spirits will leave you. The command from Jesus will send them away. In the name of Jesus, evil spirits are commanded to leave you now.

While Jesus was doing all that, our eyes need to be focused on the big picture.

"...That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses."

While he was doing all that, the ultimate price for sin had not been paid for yet. The battle may be won but the war was ragging. Jesus had to pay the ultimate price for sin so that we can have access to this grace.

"... Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses."

He not only drove out the devil, he took our infirmities and bare our sicknesses. This is good news. He took it. If he took it, then you no longer have it. Your faith must be built on this. You have to accept that he took it and you no longer have it. The devil does not want you to know this. Now that you know, be free. The death of Jesus on the cross was to finish the deal. Jesus did a good job. This was fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah the prophet. 

Was Jesus sick? Did he commit sin? It was more than that. Jesus did not commit sin, Jesus became sin so that sin can be reduced to nothing. The effect of sin is not going to control us.

2 Corinthians 8:9 "For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich."

He did it for you and for me. Through Christ Jesus, our victory over sin and the consequences of sin is dealt with. You have to know this and walk with this truth. He could identify with the challenges we are going through. If you are in pain, Jesus can identify with the pain but not so that the pain and the cause of the pain will remain, it is so that you can be free.

Hebrews 4:15 "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."

Where is your victory over sickness and disease? It is in Christ Jesus. He went all the way to root out sin and it's consequences.

1 Peter 2:24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."

Cancer is no match with Jesus. Diabetes is no match with Jesus. He will heal you of that infirmity. The sickness and disease will drop off your body. By the strip of Jesus, receive your healing. Those evil spirits are sent parking. I command them to go away in Jesus name. Much more than healing, Jesus wants you to stay in health and not need to be healed. The power that rose Jesus from the death shall keep sickness and diseases far away from you.

Pray;

Father, I receive my healing from all kinds of sickness and diseases. I command evil spirits to keep off from my body. Let the power that rose Jesus from the death rejuvenate my body and keep sickness and diseases far away. I receive healing and celebrate health from today forward. In Jesus name I pray. Amen!
