Living The Blessed Life: Blessings And Favour

 Blessings And Favour

Genesis 30:27

"And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake."

To be favoured is to have the tendency to be accepted or liked by another person. If you are favoured by someone, the person will have a soft heart towards you which will result to the person be willing to help you in ways that he or she will not normally help others. If you are favoured you could be given opportunities out of the normal without coarsiion. You can be given audience, a job, gifts, preference and preferred more than another (or others). Favour could make you exert very little energy and get a lot more out of the little. To be favoured is part of the blessings of God.

While others have to use all kinds of tricks and gimmicks and remote control measures to get what they want, the favoured person finds himself or herself getting things done with much ease. Sometimes, it will appear like favour is not fair but at the underlying, there is a principle that is triggered. You can be favoured in the eyes of God and man. This double sided favour is what you really need to be successful and happy in life. Sometimes, the words success, favour and blessing are used interchangeably and that is understandable as can be seen when Laban declared to Jacob his son in-law.

"And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake."

Laban discoved by experience that he was blessed because of Jacob and he connected it somehow to favour.

"...if I have found favour in thine eyes, ... the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake."

This element of being blessed is vital to making progress in life. While others exert energy unnecessarily, getting favoured makes it much easier to focus on what really matters. Since one can gain favour both sides, i.e God and man, which side is better?

Genesis 39:21

"But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison."

God's favour is better. It should come first. Infact, you are favoured before men because you are favoured first and foremost before God. It is divine favour that makes you favourably disposed towards men. This is what Joseph enjoyed so much more that even in prison, he was favoured.

"But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour ..."

He was in prison yet he was favoured. It may appear to be an irony but that is the truth that even in prison, you can be blessed with favour and this in itself is the gift of God. By being blessed in prison, he was given a special place by the prison Warden that other prisoners did not get. This could mean that decisions in prison were made together with him, he could influence food rations, he could influence who is released from prison before the set time and more. This is favour. No matter your state in life, you need favour.

When the Israelites were leaving Egypt, under normal circumstances, they were supposed to go empty but favour changed the narrative.

Exodus 3:21

"And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty:"

Favour will make people to give you daily requirements without effort. You do not have to meet up with lenghty requirements or follow unnecessary protocols. Favour will come to you in this season.

You will have to know that it does not matter your state in life, whether great or small, you need favour. You will need to know the caliber of men who were favoured and you will appreciate that God wants you favoured.

1 Samuel 2:26

"And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men."

Samuel grew up in the favour of God and man. As a child, healthy growth comes when God is in the picture. This double edged blessings (before God and man) is necessary to fulfill the purpose of God. As time will tell, Samuel achieved his purpose in life as a great prophet in Israel. It was not Samuel alone that grew up in the favour of God, Jesus did also.

Luke 2:52

"And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man."

Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favour. There was an increase in wisdom which triggered favour. No matter your state in life, you need to increase something iwhich can trigger favour. You need favour. Before you start any great thing in your life, go for the favour of God first and you will enjoy success.

Trigger Favour

Favour does not come accidentally. There is what to be done to trigger favour. While it may appear like it is unfair, in another sense, it is actually fair. Men are not favoured by accident. It will be wise to take note of what activates and set in motion favour.

Esther 2:17

"And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti."

There is the part of destiny to trigger favour. When men force themselves to move in the direction that hurts them and hurt others, they move out of favour with God and with men. Men are replaced in their highly placed positions because they choose to walk away from favour. Vashti was the queen and as a queen, there were laid down rules that she had to follow. At a point, she felt so important that she does not need to rules but decided to make her own rules. This brought her out of favour. What she onced enjoyed, she lost because she walk out of favour. Had she dropped the rules and took a much more higher rule, she would have gotten more favoured but she decided to set her own rules which made her to loose out. When she came down, someone who was in tune with destiny and ready to follow the rules took her place. Esther was favoured in place of Vashti.

"And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins..."

It is wisdom to follow rules and regulations. The rules were set in place for a purpose. If for any reason you decide not to follow the rules, there must be a higher rule that you will have to follow otherwise, you will be out of favour. Principles are rules that will give you an edge above others and once you get it right, you will be favoured. Where did you get the principles you are currently using? The source matters whether you will be favoured or not.

Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph were favoured because they followed destiny. They followed the higher rule and God saw them through. Daniel, Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego followed the higher rule, they refused to bow to the lower rule and it was a matter of time, their profiting appeared to all. This is how to trigger favour, follow destiny and walk in line with godly principles.

Daniel 1:9

"Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs."

It was not a one time application of principles that brought Daniel favour, it was a consistent walking in step with the principles of God as events unfolds. Can that be the same with you? Yes! You can have a similar encounter, you can be favoured if you will discover destiny and apply the right principles.

Psalms 102:13-14

"Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.

For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof."

The set time to favour you have come. But wait a moment and watch, do you know why the set time have come?

"...For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof."

There was a sowing that brought the harvest. They took pleasure in favouring what clearly glorifies God and as a result, they pulled the set time closer. They sow favour and they reap favour. Can you start today to take pleasure in favouring "... her stones, and favour the dust thereof"? Favour will come your way.

Proverbs 3:3-4

"Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man."

You want mercy? Sow mercy. You want favour? Sow favour.

"Let not mercy and truth forsake thee:.."

Favour is the working of what is happening in your heart. You reap what you sow coming out from your heart. Do not be surprise when it appears like some are favoured while others who seems to be more hard working are not favoured, it could be what is happening in their hearts. You can not see the thoughts in people's hearts. Can you? If you can see, it must have been revealed to you and it will give you an idea why they are favoured above others. We trigger favour by the thoughts in our hearts. The heart is deceptive and noisy so it attracts disfavour. The heart that resonates with God will attract favour.

Proverbs 8:35

"For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD."

Wisdom is getting relevant knowledge that is applicable to a particular situation and applying it the right way and at the right time. Wisdom will attract favour. If you get wisdom for good health, you will enjoy good health. If you get wisdom for financial prosperity, you will enjoy financial favour.

"...whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD."

Find wisdom and favour will be the outcome. The company you keep can also attract or repel favour. Once you are with someone and you feel they exudes disfavour, do what is in your power to separate yourself from them otherwise, you will also repel favour. The way they speak, the ideas they market and everything they do is against favour, help yourself and keep away from them. This goes even to the choice of a marriage partner.

Proverbs 18:22

"Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD."

Finding a wife or husband is crucial to obtaining favour. If you do it anyhow, you will get it anyhow. Allow the wisdom of God to guide you.

In addition, if you find yourself in a community of people who are walking in favour, you have increased your chances of being blessed. You can contribute your quota to the community according to the measure of grace of God in you and as the community grows, you will grow as well. But if the community is unfavorably disposed to the principles that brings favour, help yourself and leave.

Acts 2:46-47

"And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved."

This community of christians were "...daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,.." and the outcome was that

"...the Lord added to the church daily ..."

Be among the right community of people who are doing what attracts favour and you will increase your chances of being blessed. Think about it, why would God bless a people who are not doing what matters? Why will He favour just anything? Favour does not just come for nothing. Something must be done to trigger favour. You must be found doing those things that will bring favour to you.

From today henceforth be found on the side of favour. Enjoy the blessings of God responsively.

Pray:

My Father and my God, I want Your favour. Let Your favour rest on me and my family. Let men favour me as a result of Your favour. What ever I am doing up to this point in time that is bringing disfavour, I ask for mercy and forgiveness. I receive favour to succeed in whatever You have destined for me. I am favoured as from today henceforth in Jesus name. Amen!
