Living The Blessed Life Life: One Man For Many

One Man For Many

Romans 5:12

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:..."

The power that one Man can have over a crowd of people can be enormous. So much good can come to a group of people just by the influence of one Man but equally interesting to note is that so much evil can also come by the influence of a man. We cannot say for sure who that man (or woman) in question can be except God Himself who knows all things.

When a people have suffered a curse or a misfortune, sometimes all it takes is a man to take the right action to redeem the people. Once the requirement is met, the people by the action of one man (or woman) will be restored to another season of fortune, favour and freedom. Equally, unfortunately is the case of a people who have had enjoyed so much blessings and peace but by the misdeeds of one man (or woman) will suffer loses untold. If all this is true then think of the situation where everyone in the group is that 'one man (or woman)'. How great it will be that everyone is doing something unique to stand in the gap to bring a people to glory.

Saving A City By A Man

Ecclesiastes 9:14-15

"There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it:

Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; no man remembered that same poor man."

A little city was besieged by a bigger one and all citizens of the smaller city were doomed for destruction. No one in the little city could do anything about it but this man who loved his city and one that everyone could regard as a nobody and nonentity who had gathered wisdom over the years decided to dust his wisdom, take a risk and without the use of any weapon of war to redeem his city from calamity. Though he was not the king nor was he a counsellor, he became the redeemer of his people by the influence of wisdom.

"...he by his wisdom delivered the city;.."

This is a great testimony and example that we can see what one man can do for a people. We have lessons to learn from him. Is it possible for the blessings of a people to be sustained in a threatening situation? One man can make it work.

Destruction By One Man

Joshua 7:1,5,12

"But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel....

And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water...

Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you."

The case of a little city besieged by a bigger one and the intervention of a man saved the city is one case but another case is the situation where a bigger city over ran by a little city is a disheartening case. Cities have rules that governs them and some of these rules may not be written but very important to the betterment of everyone. People break rules and in most cases suffer the consequences alone but there can be situations where when rules are broken whether in secret or in public, the consequences affects everyone. This is the case of Achan.

"...Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel..."

From all indication, everyone knows that it is forbidden not to be touched, the accursed thing but Achan took of it and brought judgement to the people and it was said that the people sinned and not just the man. This brought great defeat as they attacked a smaller city i.e Ai and they were defeated just because of one man's disobedience. How did they find out the reason of the defeat? God told them.

Joshua 7:10-11

"The LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?

Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff."

One man committed the offense but the entire nation suffered the consequence. Achan could also be considered as a nobody but look at what he caused. Smaller Ai brought down skilled men of war in their numbers. This is the power of what one man can do.

God Is Looking For A Man

Ezekiel 22:30

"And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none."

God is still in the business of looking for a man who will stand in the gap for the glory to be restored (if lost) and sustained (if not lost) and you could be that man (or woman). Since you cannot give what you do not have, you need someone who can connect you to the source.

The Reason For The Curse

Romans 5:12

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:.."

How did we get ourselves into the curse of sin and are now suffering the consequences? Adam sinned and all mankind is today seeing the calamity caused by it.

Romans 5:17

"For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ..."

Sickness and disease, wars and enmity, betrayal and heartbreak started all because of sin. One man opened the door and today we all are suffering the consequences. The provision for the remedy to this situation was made available by God through one Man i.e Jesus Christ.

To enjoy the blessed life, a walk with Jesus is important. By this one man divine provision, grace, mercy and favour is sustained. The curse is broken and we all can enjoy peace and favour with God.

Galatians 3:13

"Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:.."

One man paid the price by his humble submission to the will of God and as a result, we all can gain access to the true blessing through him. It takes faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Jesus became a curse so that we might be blessed away from the curse. We can now enter into the blessings by faith in what has been done for us. Sin is dealt with in Christ Jesus. The consequences of sin is dealt with in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:9

"So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham."

The blessings of Abraham is ours by faith in Christ Jesus. Jesus stood in the gap for us so we can enjoy the blessing of Abraham then we can get ahead and stand in the gap for others. Your family will not lack someone to stand in the gap for them. Your nation will find you standing for them. This is made possible by someone who stood up for you.

Pray

Father, thank You for the provision made available for me by faith in the finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross. I believe and I confess by faith that Jesus has done it all for me. The blessings of Abraham is mine. The curse of sin is broken and I am free. I am free to be a blessing and as from today henceforth, my cup of blessing shall overflow to others. This I pray in Jesus name. Amen!
