Living The Blessed Life: God Blessed Solomon

Image
God Blessed Solomon  1 Kings 3:3-5,9-10,13 "And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places. And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar. In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee... Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.... And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days." King Solomon was known for his wisdom, wealth, and building projects, including the First Temple in Jerusalem. His father was King David and mother was Bathsheba, and he ru...

Living The Blessed Life: Blessed Abraham

Image
Blessed Abraham  Genesis 24:1 "And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things." It is a good ending when a man started somewhere small and kept the focus until his life was spent ending somewhere greater than where he started. Abraham stayed with God all through the journey of life starting from the time God spoke to him until his dieing days. It is said of him  "And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things."   To be blessed in all things should be the desire of every man. From the age of 75 to 175, Abraham was faithful and kept to the terms of the covenant with God. Human error crept in along the way but he was able to retrace his steps. God bless Abraham and he stayed blessed till the end. The same testimony awaits you if you will keep to the terms of God's covenant till the end. Few people will have the same testimony like Abraham for many reasons. There will dis...

Living The Blessed Life: Blessing From The Beginning

Image
Blessings From The Beginning  God Blessed  Genesis 1:22 "And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth." Once upon a time, blessing started. How did it start? Why did it start? Who started it? Can blessing be stopped? If we can answer some questions correctly, we will do ourselves some good and paradventure increase our chances of being blessed and also reduce our chances of not being blessed (i.e cursed).  When we get back to the beginning of anything to check how, when, where and why something started, we are solving the mystery behind the thing to find a way to forge ahead and chart a smooth curve for the journey ahead. While we can enjoy being blessed, we can enjoy even much more by understanding of how it works otherwise we will just scratch the surface. Going back to the beginning brings us to the root of the matter and foundation on which to build a solid structure. Why will there...

Living The Blessed Life: Agreements In The Blessing

Image
Agreements In The Blessing  The Blessed Amongst Others  In Agreement  Amos 3:3 "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" No man can live alone like an island. Trying to build walls to keep people away will not change much, you must live with people whether you are blessed or not. It is better to learn how to live with them than to burn bridges that connects with them. Building walls will need people, living within the wall need people whether inside the wall or outside. The blessing will attract people who will want to be partakers of the blessing either as dependants or partners. It is wisdom to know how to walk and relate with people. Even if you part ways with people, they or you may have some measure of influence. Comments about you by people who knew you can influence a lot about you. One of the many ways to increase your chances of success with your walk with people is your agreement with them. How you agree can make or mar your relationships. Agreement...

Living The Blessed Life: The Blessed In The Midst of Others

Image
The Blessed Amongst Others  Isaiah 61:9 'And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed." God gave Isaiah this understanding that once the Spirit of God comes on him, he shall liberate the people from oppression and they (the people) shall be blessed and other people around them shall see the glory. The blessings of the Lord can be so obvious to the extent that it cannot be hidden. The way people will perceive the blessed of the Lord can vary depending on the way the blessing have changed life of their lives in comparison with the former ways of living on the one hand on the other hand compared to the general lifestyle of the people around the blessed. Generally, when people know a person, they will create an impression of what they expect from the person based on what they can see and what they perceive as reality. They will tend to want to m...

Living The Blessed Life: Capacity For The Blessing

Image
Capacity For The Blessing  1 Chronicles 4:10 "And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested." When a child asks his parents to buy an aeroplane for him, what do you expect the parents to do? Even if the parents were rich, they will not buy the plane as requested, the will rather buy a toy plane. This is because the child does not have the capacity to own or to drive a plane. Capacity says a lot about readiness to hold and manage anything. It is the maximum amount that something or someone can contain just as a container can contain only a certain amount of liquid and not more than it's capacity. It is also the maximum amount that something or someone can produce just as a farm can produce only amount of crop based of it's size and fertility. The child does ...

Living The Blessed Life: Blessings And Favour

Image
Blessings And Favour Genesis 30:27 "And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake." To be favoured is to have the tendency to be accepted or liked by another person. If you are favoured by someone, the person will have a soft heart towards you which will result to the person be willing to help you in ways that he or she will not normally help others. If you are favoured you could be given opportunities out of the normal without coarsiion. You can be given audience, a job, gifts, preference and preferred more than another (or others). Favour could make you exert very little energy and get a lot more out of the little. To be favoured is part of the blessings of God. While others have to use all kinds of tricks and gimmicks and remote control measures to get what they want, the favoured person finds himself or herself getting things done with much ease. Sometimes, it...

Living The Blessed Life: Enjoying The Blessing

Image
Living The Blessed Life Enjoying The Blessing Enjoying God's Blessings 1 Timothy 6:17 "Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;.." Why do we all want to be blessed? Why is it that we do not want to be cursed? The blessings brings pleasure while the curse brings displeasure. No one wants to live in displeasure or discomfort. Many people move in the direction of more pleasure. We all want to see better results from the things we do. This is the sign that we all want to be blessed and not cursed. Does Good wants us to be blessed? Talking about enjoyment, does God approve of all enjoyments?  "Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;.." It is clear from the scripture above (and many others) that God wants us to enjoy li...
